The answer is the trainer and owner of Train Your Dog is a survivor of sexual abuse from childhood. Rob was sexually abused on a weekly basis from the age of 8 to 14 years old. At 19 he was date raped by a male in Blackpool. It didn't just end at sexual abuse but was physical abuse also. He was physically abused and beaten by his father. He had his teeth pulled out with pliers and fishing line tied to the door and then slammed shut. He was beaten over the smallest things such as being unable to tie his shoelaces. Rob has survived 8 attempts of suicide and lost two close friends to suicide. Only earlier this year Rob was thinking about having a Mausoleum built and browsing for a led lined coffin as he felt this was the only answer. He went to church and sat with an angel that guided him to a better option. Rob has previously been sectioned under the mental health act and his personal goal is to improve the world of assistance dogs and training for all people. He understands and suffers from mental health. After suffering for years in silence, at the age of 45 he opened up to his mother and told her the truth. Nobody should be living in the last chance saloon, help is there.
He understands the power of having a service dog, and understands a service dog is a better option than suicide. Why should people suffer in silence? Major charities charge from £15,000 for training and £5,000 for a suitable dog. Rob is in the process of ensuring these services are available and affordable to everyone, not just ex-military veterans. Rob has saved and turned lives around in the last 10 years by providing people with service dogs and training. Rob does this on a non-profit basis and is happy to travel anywhere in the UK and provides training to the national public access test standard with an independent assessor.
